Cost and Effectiveness of Full Service Partnerships: Assertive Community Treatment of Severe Mental Illness
[RIGHT CLICK to SAVE MP3 audio (55MB)]
Key points:
1) This study of 482 individuals with severe mental illness provides support for the construct validity (including responsiveness to change) of the Assessment of Quality of Life (AQoL) instrument.
2) Clients enrolled in full service partnership programs in the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health have larger increases in outpatient mental health services costs following admission to care than a matched sample of clients receiving usual outpatient services through public mental health clinics.
3) The increases in costs for those in full serve partnership programs is not offset by decreases in emergency or inpatient/residential care.
